Join Natural Dharma Fellowship, New Boston Sangha, Foundation for Active Compassion and other Boston Sanghas as we join together on Earth Day (April 22, 2017) in support of Mother Earth. You are invited to join this communal event of contemplative activism: Pause for the Planet.
The 2017 Boston Science March provides an appropriate venue for our communal event, which is related, but had its own internal mission to bring attention to our need to bear witness to the planet’s suffering.
As contemplatives and religious practitioners, we stand with the scientific community at a time when the voice of research and free inquiry are being suppressed. As citizens of this planet, concerned about the plight of our common home, we support for all processes that bring the truth of climate change to light. Let us demonstrate on behalf of the planet and those who protect her, and take mindfulness take the streets in a way that models discipline, strength, stillness, and peace.
What is the event? We will join the Science March in Boston, stopping along the route to sit in silent meditation as earth-witnesses for periods of 30-40 minutes at a time. We expect between 30 and 100 contemplatives to join us from multiple Boston sanghas.
